Irkutsk & Baikal / Page 7

So there we are, last day in Irkutsk, looking for a final bowl of pilmeni - hey, we're heading out of Russia the next day! So we find a little cafeteria, and enjoy our pilmeni...when, getting up to leave, we are presented with a gift from these folks at the next table: a full liter of vodka! Just because we were Americans from out of town. So we did shots with 'em, sang the Russian "Happy Birthday" to my mother, took a few photos, and went on our way. Nice, jolly law students out on the town after their exams. Nice people.

To celebrate my mother's birthday, we found a nice cake and a bottle of Sovetskaya champagne. She was surprised, thinking we weren't going to do anything special to commemorate the occaision!

Happy Birthday, Mother!
