Key Takeaways

Philz Coffee, Orchard Valley Coffee, Living Room Coffee Craft, and Barefoot Coffee are four of the most popular coffee shops in Campbell, and each one has its own personality, from made-to-order pour-overs to beans roasted right in the shop.
Orchard Valley Coffee is the only one of the four in downtown Campbell, on East Campbell Avenue near City Hall and the library, and it roasts its own beans on site in a working antique roaster.
Philz and Barefoot are both on South Bascom Avenue, a few blocks apart and close to The Pruneyard, so they’re easy to pair with shopping or errands.
Living Room Coffee Craft on South Winchester Boulevard is the best pick for lingering, with couches, fireplaces, Counter Culture coffee, and its signature herbed pão de queijo waffle.
Philz opens the earliest, at 4:30 a.m. on weekdays, but hours change, so check each shop’s website or Google listing before you go.

Summary: The most popular coffee shops in Campbell, California are Philz Coffee at 1976 S Bascom Ave for made-to-order pour-overs and the Iced Mint Mojito, Orchard Valley Coffee at 349 E Campbell Ave for beans roasted in house in downtown Campbell, Living Room Coffee Craft at 1711 S Winchester Blvd for a cozy, couch-filled café serving Counter Culture coffee, and Barefoot Coffee at 1819 S Bascom Ave near The Pruneyard for specialty espresso drinks, latte art, and award-winning cold brew.

I’ve spent more than 20 years helping people buy and sell homes in and around Campbell, and one thing buyers always want to know is where the locals actually hang out. Coffee shops are a big part of that answer. Campbell has a small-town feel and a walkable downtown, and its coffee scene runs from a café that roasts its own beans on East Campbell Avenue to a living-room-style spot on Winchester Boulevard where people settle in for the whole afternoon.

These four shops are the ones I see packed on weekend mornings, and they’re the ones I recommend to clients who are new to the area. Whether you’re after a perfectly made latte, a quiet corner to work, or a place to catch up with a friend, one of them will fit. If you’re making a day of it, pair your coffee with one of my favorite date spots in Campbell, a walk through Los Gatos Creek County Park, or a stop at one of the best places for dessert in Campbell.

Philz Coffee: Consistency is Key

1976 S Bascom Ave, Campbell, CA 95008

Philz got its start in 2003, when Phil Jaber, who had run a corner grocery in San Francisco’s Mission District for more than 25 years, turned his love of blending coffee into a business. The Campbell shop sits near the corner of South Bascom and Hamilton avenues, and it delivers the same experience Philz is known for everywhere. Every cup is a made-to-order pour-over rather than espresso, and the baristas will dial in the cream and sweetness exactly the way you like it. Customization is their whole game, so ask for what you want.

If you’ve never been, start with the Iced Mint Mojito, made with fresh mint leaves. It’s the drink Philz is famous for and accounts for roughly 30% of the company’s orders, and it’s even better ordered sweet and creamy. For something hot, Tesora is one of their signature blends, smooth and nutty, and the Mocha Tesora adds Ghirardelli cocoa for a richer cup. The shop opens at 4:30 a.m. on weekdays, which makes it a favorite with commuters heading for Highway 17.

Moving to Silicon Valley?

Orchard Valley Coffee sits right in Downtown Campbell on East Campbell Avenue, close to City Hall and the Campbell Library, and it’s one of the few cafés in the South Bay that roasts its own beans in the shop. The antique roaster on site is fully working, and it doubles as a bit of a local landmark. With high ceilings, plenty of open space, and free Wi-Fi, it has the feel of a classic neighborhood coffeehouse where you can spread out with a book or a laptop.

There’s no fuss here, just well-made classics. Regulars swear by the zebra mocha, and the case of pastries and danishes is hard to walk past. The staff greet a lot of customers by name, which tells you how many locals come back day after day.

It’s a good breakfast or lunch stop, too, with sandwiches, salads, and quiche on the menu alongside the espresso drinks, teas, and smoothies. The egg, cheese, and sausage sandwich on a buttery croissant is a highlight. If you’re downtown on a Sunday morning, grab a coffee here and stroll over to the Campbell Farmers’ Market on East Campbell Avenue.

Living Room Coffee Craft: Enjoy Your Coffee with the Café’s Cozy Vibe

1711 S Winchester Blvd, Campbell, CA 95008

Living Room Coffee Craft opened in June 2019 on South Winchester Boulevard, and the name says it all. Owner Dean Lucas laid out the space as a series of “living rooms” with couches, padded chairs, and fireplaces, along with family tables, counter seating, and a small stage for live music and events. It has its own parking lot out front, but once you’re inside it feels snug and unhurried, and a playlist of ’70s and ’80s hits keeps the mood relaxed.

The coffee comes from Counter Culture Coffee, and the baristas turn out single-origin espresso drinks, batch brew, pour-overs, and cold brew using syrups made in house and organic local dairy. The matcha latte has a loyal following. If you’re hungry, order the signature herbed pão de queijo waffle, a savory take on Brazilian cheese bread made in a waffle iron. Pastries are baked in house, and there are gluten-free options.

It works for just about any mood, whether you’re meeting a friend, studying, or working remotely for the afternoon. Seasonal drinks rotate through the menu, and the staff are happy to customize your order.

Barefoot Coffee Campbell: Adorable Latte Art and Delicious Coffee

1819 S Bascom Ave, Campbell, CA 95008

Barefoot Coffee Roasters was founded in 2003, and its Campbell café opened in November 2011 on South Bascom Avenue, just up the street from The Pruneyard. It’s been named one of the best cafés in Silicon Valley by 7×7 and Metro Silicon Valley, and it’s a buzzing hub for coffee lovers looking for a great cup or a relaxing place to hang out.

The café has warm wooden furniture and plants throughout, plus a patio that’s perfect on a sunny day. Service is quick and friendly, and with plenty of seating inside, you’ll usually find a mix of friends catching up and people working on their laptops.

The baristas take their latte art seriously, and the menu goes well beyond the basics, with specialty espresso drinks, organic teas, award-winning cold brew, and craft chocolate. For food there are toasts, bagels, eggs, and artisan pastries, and the Almond Butter + Artisan Jam Toast is a favorite. You can also pick up a bag of whole beans to brew at home. The café is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Campbell’s coffee shops are a small but telling part of why people love living here.
