CAPS recognizes professionals trained to help homeowners evaluate and plan home modifications that support safety, comfort, accessibility, and independence—especially for older adults and families planning ahead.

The CAPS program was created by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in partnership with AARP and the NAHB Research Center. The training covers key elements of aging-in-place planning, including communication strategies, market needs, common home barriers and practical solutions, building codes and standards, product ideas and resources, and business practices. CAPS designees also maintain the credential through continuing education and/or community service.
Frey’s work focuses on Bay Area homeowners – particularly in San Jose, Campbell, Willow Glen, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Santa Clara, and across Santa Clara County – who are weighing decisions about aging in place, rightsizing, selling a longtime home, or relocating closer to family.
