One of the key factors that influenced the selection of this site was its proximity to the railroad. The land was originally a part of a rancho owned by Isaac Graham. It was in 1908 that Mount Hermon got its post office.
The endearing name, Mount Hermon, is derived from a biblical location in Palestine where Jesus would retreat from his disciples. This name was thoughtfully chosen by five ladies from the founding group, highlighting the spiritual significance of the place.

This organization is a member of the Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA) and the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). They operate five self-contained conference/camping sites, three of which are located in the Santa Cruz area.
