At Home in Pasatiempo

Pasatiempo is a delightful private and gated community that may be found tucked away in the rolling hills of Santa Cruz, California. This neighborhood has a fascinating past, picture-perfect surroundings, and a wide range of amenities, all combine to make it a highly desirable location to settle down in.

Marion Hollins, a pioneering woman who made her mark in the male-dominated world of golf, was responsible for the development of the Pasatiempo area in the early 1900s. She did so by creating the Pasatiempo community. Hollins was a successful businesswoman, horsewoman, and golfer who harbored a dream of establishing a golf course in Santa Cruz that was on par with the best in the world. She engaged the assistance of a wellknown golf course architect named Alister MacKenzie to create the course, which first opened for play in 1929 and rapidly became recognized as one of the most prestigious courses in the nation.

Golfers continue to travel from all over the world to play at the Pasatiempo Golf Club because it is widely regarded as one of the best courses in California. The course’s difficult design and magnificent scenery are two of the main draws. The course has been the scene of a great number of professional and amateur competitions over the course of its history, including the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in 1948 and the U.S. Senior Open in 1986.

Yet, Pasatiempo is comprised of a great deal more than just a golf course. The community itself features a number of different amenities that are designed with the convenience of the locals in mind. The Pasatiempo Swim Club contains a huge pool, a children’s pool, and a spacious terrace for sunbathing and socializing, while the Pasatiempo Tennis Club features eight courts and a range of programs for players of all levels.

Pasatiempo is well-known not just for the opportunities it provides for outdoor leisure, but also for the breathtaking natural beauty of the area. The neighborhood is characterized by its winding lanes and diverse mix of architecture, and it is a delight to discover because it is encircled by verdant forests and undulating hills. Residents of the Pasatiempo community plan events and activities throughout the year, including a well-attended Fourth of July parade and fireworks show, which contribute to the neighborhood’s reputation for having a strong sense of community.

All things considered, what makes Pasatiempo such a desirable place to call home is the fact that it has such a storied past, stunning natural scenery, and a robust sense of community. Pasatiempo is a neighborhood that has something to offer everyone, whether you’re a golfer, a tennis player, or just someone who appreciates being outside and being part of a close-knit group of neighbors. It should come as no surprise that Pasatiempo, located in Santa Cruz, California, has emerged as one of the city’s most desired neighborhoods, thanks to the breathtaking environment, first-rate amenities, and warm and welcoming people that live there.
